Moldova: Moldova tries again to elect president

FOCUS Information Agency - The Moldovan parliament is to hold a special session on Tuesday to make a fresh attempt to elect a president.

The only candidate for the post is the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu (photo), Interfax reports.

The Party of Communists, which was in power in Moldova over the past eight years, was sent into opposition after the early parliamentary elections on July 29, refused to put up its own candidate and decided to abstain from voting in the presidential election.
