Greece: Half of ministers in new govt to be women

FOCUS Information Agency - Women will account for half of the cabinet of the socialist party PASOK, which wins Sunday’s elections in Greece, the Greek Ta Nea daily writes.

It is expected that PASOK leader Georgios Papandreou, who is likely to become a prime minister, will opt for a compact and functional government scheme of 32-25 members, of whom 16 ministers – 9 women and 7 men.

It is expected that some of the new government members will be: Anna Diamantopoulou, Louka Katseli, Milena Apostolaki, Maria Damanaki, Evi Christofilopoulou, Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou.

Papandreou has decided to remove the post of government speaker, as well as the daily briefing with political editors-in-chief.
