Kosovo: Kosovo Albanians preparing a "strong diplomatic offensive"

FOCUS Information Agency - Serbia's FM Vuk Jeremic says Kosovo Albanians are preparing a "strong diplomatic offensive", with the goal of increasing the number of recognitions of Kosovo, B92 informed.

"This will be one of the last chances for them to do that ahead of the public hearings in front of the International Court of Justice on September 1 in The Hague," the minister was quoted as saying.

Jeremic was in New York on Friday where he met with a large number of ambassadors from the countries with whose ministers the Serbian delegation will meet in September.

He specified that those would include representatives of Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, Nigeria, Vietnam and many other countries that do not have embassies in Belgrade.

"I also spoke with representatives of the UN General Secretariat, and the main topic of conversation was the situation in Kosovo and the putting together of the new report by the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, which is due to be presented to the Security Council in October," the minister said.

Jeremic also stated that "progress in the implementation of Ban's six-point plan" was considered and that there was agreement "over the overall engagement of the UN in Kosovo".
