Bilateral Relations: Iran wont budge on relations with UK

KUNA - Iran has no intention to change its policy towards the UK, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

The decision to put the Iranian-British relation on a standoff after the UK interfered in Iranian internal affairs requires "special decisions," spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Dr. Hassan Qashqavi (photo) said in a statement to the press.

Iran is not intending to take any measures yet, he said, adding that Iran will give no guarantees for British Embassy's employee Hussein Rassam who is being prosecuted by the Iranians for spying for the UK.

"The embassy is not allowed to interfere in the judicial authorities' affairs," he said, and noted that Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki is making calls with British counterpart David Miliband to sort out differences.
