Pakistan: U.S. wants to draw rift between Pakistan army and civilians

IRNA reports Lt General (Retd), former Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Hamid Gul said Wednesday US wants to draw a rift between Pakistan army and civilian population.

In an interview with IRNA, he said that the US is trying to weaken the army and a conspiracy is being hatched to dismantle the nuclear program of Pakistan.

"Americans wants to de-Islamize, denuclearize and demilitarize Pakistan; they want to see the Pakistani army as a ceremonial army rather than a fighting force", viewed Hamid Gul.
He demanded the government to adopt an independent policy, based on Pakistan’s national interest. He called for a revolution in Pakistan just like that of the Iranian revolution to come out of the US pressure.

“The United States is interfering with our internal affairs which is strongly condemnable act", Hamid Gul said.

“Americans want to twist our arm but they should realize that we are not their servants; Pakistan is an independent country and can move forward without the support of the US”, Lt General (Retd) Hamid Gul said in response to a question.

Former DG ISI was of the view that Incumbent Pakistani government is a proxy government and playing in the hands of the United States.
