Iran: Ayatollah warns against "Western doctrines"

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has warned against Western doctrines for the country adopted by some Iranian presidential candidates, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Sunday.

Khamenei slammed some candidates who intend to repeat Western doctrines as their campaign slogan in the upcoming presidential election, the report said.

"Any affiliation with the doctrines written by aliens is against national interest and undermines independence, glory and prosperity of the country," he said when addressing a gathering inthe Western Kurdistan province on Saturday.

"Saying such words are against Iranian-Islamic identity and its way of thinking," he added.

High-ranking Iranian officials have reiterated that the major cause for Iran's Islamic Revolution of 1979 is basically anti-Western tendencies.
