Venezuela: Venezuela recalls its ambassador to Peru

Xinhua reports Venezuela has recalled its ambassador to Peru to protest the country's granting political asylum to a Venezuelan opposition leader, reports said.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Venezuelan government said Peru should have arrested and extradited Manuel Rosales, and the case prompted it to "evaluate" its diplomatic relations with Peru.

Rosales, once a presidential candidate, is an opponent of President Hugo Chavez and faces corruption charges back home.
