Piracy: Singapore to send navy to Gulf of Aden

Singapore says it will contribute a naval ship and two helicopters to the international effort to combat piracy in Somalia's Gulf of Aden.

The country's Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean says the vessel and choppers will be deployed for three months.

They will work with the newly formed Combined Task Force 151, which was set up to protect shipping in the Gulf of Aden where there has been a spike in attacks by Somali pirates.
