Brazil: Brazil to send plane to rescue hostages held by Colombian rebels

The Brazilian government will provide aircraft in the Colombian government's operation to rescue a group of hostages whom the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) plans to release, Colombian daily El Tiempo reported on Friday.

According to the daily, the six captives include Colombia's former governor Alan Jara, former congressman Sigifredo Lopez, three police officers and a soldier.

It is not known yet whether the equipment used in the operation will come from the Brazilian Air Force or from civilian companies.
