Gas: Officials arrive for quadrilateral talks on TAPI gas pipeline

Afghan Minister for Mines and Industries Engineer Ibrahim Adil arrived in Islamabad on Monday to attend the ministerial level meeting of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan- India (TAPI) gas pipeline talks, officials said.

The 2-day talks on the multi-billion TAPI gas pipeline project will begin on April 23.

Indian oil minister Murli Deora will also attend the TAPI meeting, which is planned to officially induct India into the project. Indian Secretary Oil M. S. Srinivasan will also be accompanying the minister.

India is resuming the talks after lapse of about 10 months.

It stopped attending IPI meetings citing tiff with Pakistan over transmission fee as a reason.

New Delhi had been waiting for the new Pakistan administration to take over so that it can resume discussions over the TAPI as well as the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project.
