Defense: Russia to deploy Borei class submarine nuclear missile-carriers from 2007

Itar-Tass reports Vice-premier, Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov, has told reporters the Russian Navy will deploy submarine nuclear missile-carriers of "Borei" class from 2007.

The Borei is claimed to represent the state of the art in submarine design, incorporating characteristics that make it superior to any submarine currently in service, such as the ability to cruise silently and be less detectable to sonar.
