Women's Issues: Yemen's first cartoon highlights lack of women's education and revenge

The first ever cartoon clip made in Yemen, has been produced by the executive office of the Yemeni Women Union (YWU).The clip, which was made with the support of the American embassy in Sana'a, is called "Justice outside our country". It deals with the lack of women's education and revenge.

The 18-minute film was funded by a Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) grant of just over US$22,000. It is part of a national campaign to promote girls' education and non-violence.

The Yemen Observer, reports that the cartoon tells the story of a small, precocious girl, who cannot attend school like the boys in her village, but eloquently demands to know why the neighbouring village enjoys peace and harmony while her own hometown is engulfed in flames.
