Mallenbaker.net reports that five major food companies have hit the Japanese whaling industry by pulling support from Kyodo Senpaku - the company that runs most of the country's whaling ships. Nissui, Gortons, Sealord and Bluewater Seafoods have all divested their one-third share in the company.
Greenpeace said that the result showed the power of consumers in globalised markets.
