Media: Belgian newspaper to trial "digital paper"

Belgian public news service VRTnieuws, reports that Flemish financial daily De Tijd, will be the first in Europe to try out "digital paper". "Digital paper" is a thin screen displaying articles downloaded everyday from the Internet.

During a three-month trial period, from this month to the end of June, 200 test readers will receive a prototype developed by Phillips.

The apparatus has a paper thin screen the same size as a piece of A5 and is easy to read, even in direct sunlight, Belgian public news service VRTnieuws reported The articles can be downloaded everyday via a broadband Internet connection or via a hot spot. An evaluation will be made after the test period.
