Health: U.S. soldiers set to get plaque preventing gum

Australia's ninemsn reports that Army and civilian scientists are developing a new gum for U.S.soldiers.

Delegates at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists convention in Nashville, were told the gum would contain a special bacteria-fighting agent to prevent plaque, cavities and gum disease.

Dr Patrick DeLuca, a University of Kentucky drug product developer, has the task of improving the taste and making sure the bacteria-fighting ability and flavour last from 30 minutes to an hour.
